Triclosan Antimicrobial Handwash with emollient and moisturizer

Medicated with Triclosan 0.3% w/v

Tridex is an antimicrobial liquid handwash with emollient and moisturizer. It is recognized for its very low irritation on the skin despite repetitive use. It is effective against a wide spectrum of microorganisms.

Triclosan is effective when used to treat impetigo (pyogenic rash/ pus) and corynebacterium (causes acne/ pimple)

Tridex contains 0.3% Trclosan which isa diphenyl ether. Its antimicrobial activity depends on its ability to disrupt the microbial wall. Broad-spectrum, it is effective against a wide spectrum of gram positive and gram-negative bacteria except Psuedomonas aeruginosa. Poor fungicide with little information as a virucide.

It can be absorbed through intact skin but appears to be nonallergenic and non-mutagenic with short-term use. Recently, the FDA discourages its use for products that were previously sold over the counter. because manufacturers of these items could not supply proof that the products affected by restriction do not have mutagenic property. On the other hand, despite their long-term use in many products, including toothpaste, there has been no report so far to associate it with any cancer or fatal allergenicity.

Tridex is available on request if required as a preoperative hand scrub for doctors allergic to both CHG and PVP-I and for the treatment of severe skin infections such as impetigo.
