STANDARD DRESSING SET
Steril Medical designed and produced the first dressing set more than three decades ago. The design has not changed although the components have changed with better quality replacements. One obvious change is the cotton dressing gauze, which is now replaced by nonwoven gauze, which has the advantage of less linting but higher absorbency. Another change is the replacement of the coloured PVC forceps material with an entirely different plastic that is hardened and distortion- free. The aim is to show that the material used is clean and the forceps function almost like their metal counterparts when it comes to working with the other components of the set. The design of the forceps ensures pleasing uninterrupted work in wound cleaning, removal of stitches and the introduction, removal manipulation of catheters commonly used in patient care.

STERIL designed the first Disposable Dressing Set in 1990. The product is now widely recognized for the convenience it provides to nurses or doctors who are involved in the dressing and caring of patients’ wounds. The original design has now become a standard of numerous manufacturers assembling sets for similar purpose.
The set contains a procedure tray with compartments for holding the cleansing solutions used, hand towel, protective underlay, cotton balls, gauze, disposable forceps and a limpet bag.
The distinguishing feature of STERIL’s set is the disposable GSF forceps. Designed and produced from proprietary plastic resin, the hardest forceps perform close to what is expected of a reusable metal instrument. The tips are shaped precisely for holding suture ends during stitching or suture removal. They are capable of grasping firmly any PVC catheter during insertion or retrieval and wet or dry cotton balls or gauze when these are used for wound cleaning and dressing.
